and people having a good
time . . . Phil came in from

Beautiful hoine of Jackie

Sherry Nobel and Eunice's
parents, Rose and Harry
Michelson . . . given at city
council meeting for their ef-
forts o-n behalf of cardio-
pulmonary resuscitation

Southfield council . . . in the
absence of President Jim
Collins.

American Cancer Society
. . . and 10 years with De-
troit Art Museum . . . Few
people have more interest-
ing stories about famous
and important people who
have been at Ford Hospital
. . . After 25 r years there,
Helen was given a watch by
Benson Ford . . . Always the
volunteer-hearted, Helen
even offered her services to
help at the Shrine Circus

yesterday . . . but that was
for members of Crescent
Shrine Club who took 1,457
kids to the circus.

BIRTHDAY • CON-
GRATS . . . to Bernie Mond

on number 50.

MAIL DEPT. .. "To the

many, many people who
knew my little 3 1/2-lb. poo-
dle, Bikini, as the dog who
sang and danced the twist
— she passed away in her
sleep on March 2 at the ripe
old age of 19, and she proved
her love and devotion by
sparing me the pain of se-
eing her die. Eddie and I
will miss her."

Wayne State University
senior Yuri Rabinovich,
who emigrated from the
Soviet Union in 1971, led
WSU last weekend to the
1979 National Collegiate
Athletic Association fenc-
ing championship.
Rabinovich, who won the
individual sabre title for
WSU in 1975, defeated
two-time champion Mike
Sullivan of Notre Dame in a
fence-off to win the sabre ti-
tle. Although Sullivan had
defeated Rabinovich in an
earlier bout, both had
finished the competition
with 21-2 records, forcing
the fence-off.
WSU won the team title
with 119 points. Notre
Dame, the 1978 champion,
finished second with 108.

— Bea Rogovin

(I remember tiny Bikini
so very well, as does Les
Gruber of the London Chop
House, where Bea and
Eddie would go among so
many other places, and Bi-
kini wouldn't move a mus-
cle all evening. People
thought Bea was holding a
muff.)

PEOPLE, DISA 'N
DATA ... Did you know it

was a state law to hang a
liquor license with a plate
glass on it? . . . Hard to find
a more wonderful couple
than Sarah and -Iry Pitt .. .
their sincerity is so very
real . . . a rarity today . . . no
wonder so many people like
them . . . Mary Mooradian
talking on the telephone to.
Alfie . . . her Yorkie dog .. .
Dennis Kowalski, manager
at Jax Kar Wash on Green-
field and 10 Mile, fell down
stairs at home about a
month ago, but nobody to
open up Jax so Dennis had
to show : . . shoulder separa-
tion and all . . . He wears his
arm in a brace now . . . Sure
would like to see Milt Tyner
back in action again . . . he
was one of the best when it
came to bar-b-q ribs . . . re-
member Checker on Liver-
nois? . . . Would you believe
Herman Osnos is 79 years
old? . . . doesn't look it .. .
He and wife Helen recently
celebrated 50 years of mar-
riage . . . Look for a big
change to happen at a large
catering establishment in
the northwest locale .. .
Does Ben Roth still live
on the island off Majorca,
where he went many years
ago? . . . How could I ever
forget WJR's Jimmy
Launce among my favorite
radio people? . . Folks look-
ing for Dave Wilborn and
his little Cotton Pickers can
call 569-3734 evenings after
7 . . . the group does a heck
of a good job at all kinds of
affairs . . . Dave is the only
surviving member of those
Original McKinney's Cotton
Pickers, one of the truly
great jazz bands from years
ago . . .
Heard about the eccentric
who bought an old double-
decker bus to go to drive-in
movies . . . because he likes
to sit in the balcony?
THANKS . . . for the
Shrine Circus tickets . . . to
Auditor General Al Lee and
Dave Kohlenberg.
