Establishment of a Beth
Midrash, an institute for
higher studies, in Talmud,
Mishna and commentaries,
at Akiva Hebrew Day
School, will serve as a
memorial in tribute to the
late Zvi Tomkiewicz.
The Beth Midrash will be
known as Beth Zvi, it was
announced by Phillip
Stollman in his address in
tribute to the departed Mii-
rachi and Bar-Ilan Univer-
sity leader, at the memorial
meeting at Young Israel of
Oak Woods, March 22.
Stollman said that a sum
of $100,000 will be solicited
to assure the formation and
functioning of the Beth Zvi.
Rabbi James Gordon,
who presided at the
memorial meeting, spoke
of the departed leader's
dedication to Akiva He-
brew Day School, which
he aided as one of the
founders.
In a Midrash, given as a
Dvar Torah, to open the
memorial meeting, Rabbi
Leizer Levin described the
tradition of observing
Shloshim, the conclusion of
the 30-day period of mourn-
ing as means of retaining
the memory of the scholar
who had passed away.

A family Passover model
seder will be held for the
families of the Wonder
Club, Tigresses and the
Young Adult Socialites,
recreational groups for the
mentally impaired and sloW
learners at the Jewish
Community Center; 2 p.m.
Sunday at the 10 Mile Cen-
ter branch.
The members will present
various portions of the
Passover Seder for their
families and friends. There
also will be a symbolic
Passover meal. The groups
have also made Seder plates
and matza covers.
These groups are funded
by the Northwest Child Re-
scue Women, Junior and
Senior Leagues, in coopera-
tion with the Jewish Cen-
ter.
Rabbi Sherwin Wine will
review "Shosha" by Isaac
Bashevis Singer 8:30 p.m.

April 11 and 12 in the
synagogue.
Rabbi Efry Spectre,
spiritual leader will conduct
the services on April 11 and
Cantor Larry Vieder will
lead the second Seder serv-
ice.

ing of the peace accord be-
tween Israel and Egypt, a
multi-media presentation
will be offered 8:30 p.m.
today at Temple Israel.

and Rabbi Harold S. Loss,
with music by Cantor
Harold Orbach and the
temple choir.
