Kremer Chides Jewish Units Language, Music and Dance
for Not Aiding in Trifa Case Featured at Jewish Center

NEW YORK — Dr.
Charles H. Kremer has is-
sued a statement chiding
American Jewish organiza-
tions for not supporting his
efforts to bring to trial
Michigan's Romanian Ar-
chbishop Valerian Trifa.
Dr. Kremer, a New York
dentist who has been push-
ing the U.S. government for
nearly 30 years to take ac-
tion against Trifa, says the
Conference of Presidents of
Major American Jewish
Organizations has ignored
his requests for moral and
financial backing.
The U.S. case against
Trifa has been dragging for

WB Settlements

Are Ruled Legal
for Security.

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
The Israel Supreme Court
ruled that Jewish settle-
ments in the occupied Arab
territories are legal" iftheir
existence is necessary to the
security of the state as long
as a -state of war exists.
The unanimous ruling by
the panel of five justices put
an end to legal challenges to
Israel's settlement policy
and was seen as opening the
way to the proliferation of
settlements in the occupied
areas.
The court rendeted its de-
cision on an appeal by Arab
residents of Bet El and
Tubas on the West Bank
against the seizure of their
lands by the army for even-
tual settlement.

They contended that
this did not serve any
military purpose and was
in conflict with intermit-
tional law. But the court
accepted the govern-
ment's contention that
the lands seized were

strategically sensitive
and therefore important
to security.
It also claimed that the
seizures were in accordance
with Article 52 of the
Geneva Convention which
permits the seizure of land
for military purposes.

The

case

was

scheduled to be heard be-
fore U.S. District Judge

Kennedy is expected to
be confirmed shortly to a

group and as individual
organizations has ignored
the case and his requests for
help.
He said only the Ameri-

which is not a member of the

Begin Asks India
to Support Treaty

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Prime Minister Menahem
Begin sent on Tuesday a
personal message to Indian
Premier Moraj Desai, in
which he called on him to

Egypt, the Israeli daily
Yediot Aharonot reported.
Explaining to Desai the
importance of the agree-

It also was reported that
the Americans are pre-
sently in contact with var-
