Proceeds will benefit the Home In- struction Program for Pre- School _ Youngsters, (HIPPY), in Hatzor, Israel. Since 1966, Dr. Adler has been on the faculty of the Hebrew University's School of Education, for which he served as chairman of the graduate program. Granted a leave of absence from 1967 to 1969, he was a research assistant at the Center for International Affairs at Harvard University. In 1970, Dr. Adler was named to his current post. In 1976, Dr. Adler visited the United States to par- ticipate in a colloquium or- ganized by the NCJW Re- search Institute, the U.S. Office of Education and the graduate schools of educa- tion at Harvard University, Columbia University, the University of Chicago and UCLA. CHAIM ADLER stitute for InnoVation in Education at the Hebrew University was created by the National Council of Jewish Women to deal with the cultural gap between Western Jews and their Afro-Asian brothers. Two successful proj- ects narrowing this gap are HIPPY and Manof. The former, _ affecting some 6,000 3-6 year olds throughout Israel, is a home intervention pro- gram which trains the mother through para- professional aides to teach her children educa- tional skills. The latter works with marginal youth unable to fit into society's framework. Housed in a dormitory setting, Manof boys receive special vocational training, basic skills courses and per= sonal attention from teachers and youth work- ers. After 6 months, they "graduate" to kibutz life and then to independence and work, advanced educa- tion or the army. Cong. Mishkan Israel Nusach H'Ari is accepting registration for the spring semester for its nursery school. The semester will begin April 1. Half-day sessions begin at 12:30 p.m., and are held Monday through -Thursday for children age 3-5. Snacks are provided and transpor- tation arrangements can be made. .
