Brodhead. Prods
Griffin Bell
on Trifa Case
Rep. William Brodhead
(D-17th Dist.) has urged
U.S. Attorney General Grif-
fin Bell -to do everything in
his power to speed the gov-
ernment's case against al-
leged Nazi collaborator Ar-
chbishop Valerian Trifa of
Grass Lake, Mich.
Reminding Bell that he
first inquired about the
Trifa case two years ago,
and that the case has now
been pending for four years,
Brodhead wrote:
"I do not wish to inject
myself into this case. How-
ever, I think you will agree
with me that this country
should move aggressively
against suspected Nazi war
criminals living in the
United States.' The House
Judiciary Committee -has
expressed the deep Con-
gressional sentiment on
this matter.
"I recognize that the Jus-
tice Department cannot
control the backlog in fed-
eral court cases. However,
Congress created dozens of
new federal judgeships last
year to address this prob-
lem. 1 urge you to do every-
thing possible to bring this
case to trial as speedily as
possible."
OCC Jewish Unit Changes
Charter to Receive Funding

campus of Oakland Com-
munity
College ' has
changed its charter to re-
flect its ethntc, social and
cultural aspects, rather
than religious, in order to
continue to receive funding
from the college.
The action came after
OCC trustees were ap-
proached last year by a stu-
dent belonging to an atheist
group, who demanded that
three student religious
organizations be denied
student activities funds
under the separation-of-
church-and-state clause of
the U.S. Constitution.
-Last summer, the OCC
trustees voted 4-3 to con-
tinue funding the groups:
the Association of Jewish
Students, the Christian Fel-
lowship and the Newman
Club. But recently the trus-
tees voted 6-1 to follow the
opinion of -the college's at-
