Following her move to Detroit in 1951, she has served as a member of Hanita Chapter and, on the council level, as member- ship chairman, vice president in charge of organization, education, and executive vice president. The honoree has been active in the Israel Bond Hamantashen Domino Sugar has pre- pared a pareve mohn (poppy seed) hamantashen recipe. Domino Sugar is kosher and used traditionally by kosher cooks. PASTRY 4 cups unsifted flour 3 tsps. baking powder 3 /4 cup Domino granulated sugar 1 /4 tsp. salt 4 eggs 1 /2 cup oil Grated rind of one lemon or orange Sift dry ingredients into large bowl. Make a well in cen- ter of flour mixture. Break eggs into well. Add oil and lemon peel. Stir until well blended. Turn out onto lightly floured board and knead until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and re- frigerate for at least one hour. Roll out on lightly floured board to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into 4-inch rounds. Place 1/2 tablespoon filling in center of each circle. Moisten 3 edges of circle. Bring up three sides to form three-cornered pocket. Pinch edges to seal. Place on greased baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown. FILLING pound poppy seeds 1/2 cup Domino granulated sugar 1/2 cup chopped raisins or cur- rants 1 tbsp. grated lemon or orange peel 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon 1 egg 2 tbsps. honey . 1 /4 Grind poppy seeds in food processor or using mortar and pestle. She has also contrib- uted her services to the Jewish Home for the Aged for the past three years as a group leader in the Resocialization Pro- gram, and she is a board member of the Volunteer Services Committee of Jewish Family Services. Mrs. Harold earned a master's degree in psychol- ogy at the University of To- ronto, with a certificate in nursery school supervision. Mr. and Mrs. Harold have visited Israel five times and plan to attend the Pioneer Women National Conven- tion in Israel this fall. Mrs. Harold's paternal grandparents left Poland in 1911 to settle in Ein Ganim (now part of Petah Tikva), bringing four of their seven sons with them; today the Israeli family tree includes branches of six of the pioneers' sons. The Harolds are active leaders of the Labor Zionist Alliance.
