NCJW Meeting
Is Set for Texas

NEW YORK — Seven
hundred delegates from
around the country will
attend the 33rd biennial
convention of the National
Council of Jewish Women
(NCJW), to be held at the
Fairmont Hotel in Dallas
March 12-15. The gathering
will culminate a year-long
celebration of the organiza-
tion's 85th anniversary.
A highlight of the conven-
tion will be an appearance
by U.S. Commissioner of
Education, Dr. Ernest L.
Boyer, who recently re-
turned from Israel where he
attended a U.S.-Israel col-
loquium on education co-
sponsored by the NCJW Re-
search Institute for Innova-
tion in Education.

Jerusalem has become the
most populous city in Israel
with 376,000 inhabitants,
compared to Tel Aviv's
343,000 and Haifa's

Jerusalem's population
includes 272,000 Jews and
103,000 non-Jews, mostly
Arabs. Since the city was
re-unified in 1967,
Jerusalem's Arab popula-
tion has- grown by 60 per-
cent and the Jewish popula-
tion by 37.7 percent.
