Carter Claims Billy Is Not Biased

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
President Carter said Tues-
day that his brother Billy
"is not anti-Semitic" and
that "I disassociate myself
and Billy" from any.allega-
tions or remarks that may
be interpreted as such. Re-
plying to a question at a
White House press confer-
ence, Carter said, "I know
Billy . . . since he was born
and I know for a fact that he

that Billy has "never made"
any "serious" statement
against Jews or any other
group. He expressed con-
cern for Billy who he said
was "seriously ill." Billy
Carter is hospitalized for a
bronchitis condition, but his
doctor denied that Billy is
seriously ill.
On Sunday, President
Carter strongly repudiated
his brother's recent anti-
Semitic remarks in a pri-
vate telephone conversation
with Presidential trade
representative Robert
