The Medical and Osteo-
pathic Physicians Sections
of the 1979 Allied Jewish
Campaign - Israel Emer-
gency Fund will hold a
cocktail reception and
dinner March 7 at Adat
Shalom Synagogue. The re-
ception begins at 6:30 p.m.,
followed\ by dinner at 7:30.
Guest speaker will be
Moshe Arad, deputy direc-
tor general of_ the Israel
Foreign Ministry. Arad, a
captain in the Israel De-
fense Forces, saw active
duty in the Sinai Campaign
and the Six-Day War.
Following top-level as-
signments with Israel's
ministries of Foreign Af-
fairs and Justice, Arad
served in embassy and con-
sular posts in London, New
York and WaShington, D.C.

chairman of the Medical‘

The Metropolitan Di-
vision will hold its annual
"Met" Kick-off meeting
March 4 in the Senior Adult
Lounge of the Jewish Com-
munity Center. The meet-
ing begins with continental
breakfast at 9:45 a.m.
Guest speaker will be
Philip Slomovitz, editor and
publisher of the Detroit
Jewish News, who will dis-
cuss "The World "Jewish
Scene." Campaign kits will
be distributed to division
workers, who will contact
approximately 1,500 indi-
viduals not affiliated within
the Campaign structure
through a trade or profes-
sional group.
Jerome B. Greenbaum,
Metropolitan Division
-chairman, will preside at
_ the meeting. David Levine
is associate chairman. -
Carl R. Lichtenstein is
chairman, and Leo Baron,
co-chairman, of Treasury
Gifts. Edward Gordon is
Special Gifts chairman and

Knitters Aid Campaign

Every Tuesday afternoon
a group of elderly women.
gathers at the Ten Mile
branch of the Jewish Com-
munity Center to knit and
crochet. Proceeds from the
sale of their hand-made
goods are given to the Allied
Jewish Campaign - Israel
Emergency Fund.
The knitting circle was
started about eight years
ago by Edie Klein. "These
women, most of them in
their 80s, weren't able to get

$500 to the Campaign. .
