The Best of Everything )

(Continued from Page 24)
of "I DO! I DO!"
IT'S ALMOST A whole

new ball game now at the
Uncle John's Family Res-
taurant on Woodward north
of 14 Mile in Birmingham
. . . The new menu, first
change in a long time, has
been started here by Bob
Zimmerman, head of all
Uncle John's spots for Ben
Kasle, who no doubt re-
members when Bob began
with him in 1961 as an 18-
year-old busboy.
Managers at Uncle John's
in Birmingham are Bob
Saunders and Carl Tre-
main, switching off days
and nights at what was the
first Uncle John's in the
now 10 owned and operated
restaurants by parent com-
pany Kresco, whose office
manager Helen Snyder can
recall her beginning in 1962
and has seen the growth of a
fine company.
Janice Howard, our wait-
ress at Uncle John's in Bir-
mingham, is indicative of
the type of girls working
there . . . smiling, pleasant,
efficient and courteous.
There's a large salad bar,
credit cards accepted, and
everything from pancakes
and waffles galore to about
25 sandwiches, four salads
plus the salad bar, lo-cal
dishes, II dinner entrees,
soup and chili, crepes, chil-
dren's menu and desserts
aplenty.
DAVID BRENNER will
be at the State-Wayne The-
ater in Wayne, Mich.,
March 23 and 24 . . . sharing
the stage with local
songstress Ursula Walker
. . . with show backup by
The Buddy Budson Quartet.

RICHARD CARLSON

BE

-

took wife Ilene to
Rhinoceros restaurant on
Riopelle for their recent
24th anniversary . . : and
reports bad service and food
that "left very much to be
desired" . . . "Only good
thing was our busboy,, ' says
Richard.

THE PECULIAR,

very unnecessary confusion
almost created by having
two Rosebud operations in
the Southfield area may be
over . . . thank Heavens.
Changing- its name im-
mediately to avoid confu-
sion with the lavish
Rosebud disco setup open-
ing this spring in American
Motors Bldg. is Detroit and
suburbs newest "in" spot on
Telegraph, north of 10 Mile
Mile Rd. (former Post Office
and Sail In locale).
It's a most intimate spot
...not open yet for lunch or

dinner .. . but able to
handle folks drinking, danc-
ing and having a lot of fun
. . . The kitchen should be
open in about a week .. .
Until then, hours are 4 p.m.
til 2:30 a.m. Monday
through Saturday.
Dancing and listening
Tuesday -Saturday is to the
very able Louie Marr Quar-
tet plus the songstress styl-
ings of Cris Peterson, who
sings the blues or belts 'em
out while folks enjoy . . . No
introduction is necessary
for Louie Marr on piano or
Ronnie Shandel on lead
guitar . . . as they head the
quartet into a very fine
rounding out of good music.
Hard to beliexe_that own-
ers Frank Alampi and Con-
nie St. Dennis did almost all
the remodeling and decorat-
ing themselves . . . includ-
ing a large, raised dance
floor, wall papering, knock-
ing out a wall, plastering,
etc. . . . Their place now
seats about 250, including a
cute little lounge_area with
soft settee and chairs.
It took a lot of work and
about- a year to open, but
Frankie and Connie have
done it . . . with nothing but
the highest of credit to both
of them . . . a couple of real
down-to-earth people who
deserve everyone's support.
AS IN THE old days at
his Seven Mile and Schaefer
restaurant, Sol's still has
the one sandwich it is now
one of the very very few to
have . . . a Bar-Le-Duc . .
cream cheese and jam .. .
And he may well be the only
one to have it again as a
toasted triple-decker .. .
Sol's new deli is in Lathrup
Landing on II Mile Rd. and
Evergreen.
