Jewish Studies Classes Set
Wednesday at Beth El
A total of 14 classes will
be offered when the College
of Jewish Studies begins its
spring semester 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday at Temple Beth
El.
The college is the official
adult education project of
all the Reform congrega-
tions of Metropolitan De-
troit, but courses are open to
any adult, whether a temple
member or not.
According to Cantor Ar-
thur Asher, dean, the
courses being offered this
spring are: Roots of Anti-
Semitism; The Jew in
American Literature; Com-
parative Judaism: Reform,
Conservative, Orthodox;
Ancient Jewish History; the
Kremlin's War Against the
Jews; Rabbinic Responses
to Modern Jewish Prob-
lems;. Encounters with God
and Man: Character Studies
of Biblical Personalities;
and Hebrew and Yiddish on
several levels. Of particular
interest are the courses
called Introduction to
Judaism which are open to
anyone but are specifically
designed to meet the needs
of prospective converts to
Judaism.
Classes will meet for 14
Wednesday nights. Regis-
tration will take place 6:30
p.m. Wednesday. There is a
