5,500 were from Michigan.
This is a 9 percent increase
over the 1977 figure, and an
8 percent increase from the
entire U.S.
We do not have an accu-
rate figure of how many
Jewish tourists were in-
cluded in this 5,500, but we
estimate that just over 50
percent were non-Jewish.
The income of tourist
dollars in 1978 was $610
million, compared to $460
