Jonases came to Detroit in
the early 1920s. Jonas was
active in the retail food in-
dustry and real estate field
for many years.
Active on behalf of
Jewish causes, The
couple held membership
in the former Delray
Hebrew Congregation,
Cong. Bnai Moshe (Dex-
ter Avenue location),
Yeshivath Beth Yehudah
board of directors and
Cong. Bnai Israel. They
also have been active in
•efforts on behalf of
Yeshiva Torah Vodaath
and the Beth Medrash
Govoha in Lakewood,
N.J.
Jonas also will be honored
on the occasion of his 80th
birthday.
The Jonases have 12 chil-
dren, 29 grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.
A son-in-law, Rabbi Jacob
Traub of San Francisco, was
graduated from Torah Vod-
aath.

Hermelin was elected co-
chairman of the National
Organization Committee,
the national policy-making
body of Men's ORT. He was
also elected vice president
of the American ORT Fer-
eration. He is past president
of Detroit Men's ORT.
Nusbaum was presented
the 1979 ORT Achievement
Award for his "outstanding
activities in support of the
ORT programs." He is pres-
ident of Detroit Men's ORT
the National Organization
Committee of Men's ORT.
