gram of prayer and song at
their Siddur party 7:15 p.m.
Thursday at the school.
This event culminates
each student's completion of
learning the prayers from
the Siddur and being able to
sing them.
To honor this accom-
plishment, the Hillel P.T.O.
will present each student
with his or her own Siddur.
Relatives and friends are

Michigan State Temple
Youth will hold a 1979
winter conclave Feb. 23-25
at Temple Emanu-El.
Theme for the conclave will
be "Israel: A Tapestry."
Temple Israel youth will
participate.
The youth group and con-
firmation class announce
their annual Purim carni-
val will be held noon March
11. An oneg Shabat will be
held March 9 and a social
March 10. The carnival will
be highlighted by Purim
costumes, food, games and
prizes.

Women Offer Scholarship
The Woman's Auxiliary
of the United Hebrew
Schools is offering awards to
students in the elementary
and high school levels of the
United Hebrew Schools as
well as to Midrasha stu-
dents and to Midrasha
graduates.
The awards are offered for
Jewish summer camp ex-
periences, study trips to Is-
rael and for professional de-
velopment in the field of
Jewish education or Jewish
communal service. The
award programs are in-
tended as encouragement
for further Judaic and Heb-
raic studies and are not
based on financial need.
On the UHS elementary
school level, students in
grades gimel, dalet or hey
are eligible for a $100 award
towards Camp Kfar Ivri, the
Hebrew-peaking village at
Camp Tamarack, Orton=
ville. Students who attend
the accelerated four-day
program are eligible for
$125 award for Camp Kfar
Ivri or other approved He-
brew camp.
On the UHS High
School level, students'
attending the seven-hour
program are eligible for a
$150 award per year, of
attendance for a Jewish
summer camp or study
tour program in Israel.
Hebrew high school
graduates; Midrasha stu-
dents and graduates are
eligible for awards earned
in high school for college
-
programs in Israel or for
professional training in
Jewish education or com-
munal service.
The Esther Berman
Graduate Award also is
available towards tuition
for Hebraic or Judaic
studies at an accredited
university in Israel.
United Hebrew Schools'
students should submit
their applications by April 1

Activities
Herzl AZA of Whidsor
will celebrate its .50th an-
niversary celebration April
7 and 8.
The program will be high-
lighted by a special Shabat
morning community-wide
service, a cocktail reception
and dance anti a reunion
brunch.

More than 325 students
are receiving full or partial
scholarships to attend
United Hebrew Schools, a
system involving 1,300
youngsters.
