Rabbis Petition
Red Cross Unit

NEW YORK — The re-
cent 11th Conference of
European Rabbis passed a
strongly-worded resolution
urging the International
Red Cross organization in
Geneva to grant immediate
recognition to the Red
Magen David Society of Is-
rael. The rabbis of 14 coun-
tries were represented at
the Paris conference.
Rabbi Rubin R. Dobin, in-
ternational chairman of
Operation Recognition,
hailed the support of the
Conference of European
Rabbis. He explained that a
nine-nation working group
has been appointed to look
into the entire problem of
Israel's MDA emblem and
seek a fair solution.

Yeshivot Dedicate
Alumni Memorial

JERUSALEM — The old-
est of the Yeshivot Bnei
Akiva Kfar Haroeh —
has dedicated a room to the
memory of 55 of its alumni
who have fallen over the
past 30 years in the defense
of Israel.
The dedication of the
room in the original, 40-
year-old Beit Midrash
building was attended by
the families of the 55 fallen
students, the leadership of
the Bnei Akiva movement
and the students of the
yeshivot. The memorial
contains pictures and de-
scriptions of each of the
young men, as well as
memorial books and mate-
rials dedicated by theii-
families.
Kfar Haroeh was the first
the 31 Torah institutions
the Yeshivot Bnei Akiva
movement throughout Is-
rael. Serving over 12,000
young Israeli men and wo-
men, the Yeshivot Bnei
Akiva system includes
yeshiva high schools for
boys, ulpanot (high schools
for girls), vocational
schools, preparatory
schools, yeshivot hesder (for
high school graduates who
wish to pursue their religi-
ouS educations while serv-
ing in the Israeli Defense
Forces) and the newly
opened OROT College for
Women in Tel Aviv, for girls
who wish to complete their
religious educations while
donating their time in vol-
unteer service to Israel.
