ribbon" committee to carry
out the program, which in-
cludes advertising in
selected English-Jewish
newspapers, and in the New
York Times, about the av-
ailability of jobs in Savan-
nah. The plan also provides
for advertising in trade and
professional journals.
Families which have
moved to Savannah during
the past five years will be
contacted to determine
whether they have friends
or relatives who might be
interested in moving to
Savannah. If any such
friends or relatives are
found, their job skills will be
checked out and efforts will
be made to place such Jews
in jobs in their fields.
Executives of Jewish fed-
erations in the Northeast
and Midwest will be pro-
vided with listings of jobs
available in Savannah.

— The .Savannah Jewish
Council, troubled by a sub-
stantial drop in the number
of Jews in Savannah, has
organized a comprehensive
plan to attract Jews from
other areas.
Aaron Levy, council pres-
ident, said the council had
allocated $5,000 for the pro-
ject.
According to the Savan-
nah Jewish News, the coun-
cil official publication, the
decline during the past de-
cade has been due in part to
the nation-wide decline in
the Jewish birthrate.
Another reported fac-
tor has been the migra-
tion of Savannah young
people to other parts of
the country after they get
their college degrees. The
current edition of the
American Jewish Year
Book gives the estimated
Jewish population of
Savannah as 2,600.
