the City University of New
York, will speak at a meet-

Campaign - Israel Emer-
gency Fund Dentists Sec-
tion at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
The meeting will be' at the
Birmingham home of Dr.
Jason Goode. Campaign
leaders and contributors of
$1,000 are invited.
Dr. Alteras, who also
teaches in the Queens Col-
lege Adult Collegiate Edu-
cation Program, is an expert
in modern European and
Jewish history. As a
lecturer-in-residence at the
Herzl Institute, he has fre-
quently spoken on contem-
porary Zionism, the PLO,
the Soviet role in 'he Arab-
Israel conflict and other
topics dealing with the
Middle East and Israel.

Meets Sunday

EPHRAIM YAAR

Israeli sociologist Ep-
hraim Yaar will speak at
the third of a series of
weekly parlor meetings to
benefit the Allied Jewish
Campaign - Israel Emer-
gency Fund. The meeting
begins at 8 p.m. Wednesday
at the Bloomfield Hills
home of the former Jewish
Welfare Federation
President Martin E. Citrin.
Dr. Yaar, a professor at
-Tel Aviv University, is an
expert on Israel's "social
gap" and the problems sur-
rounding the rehousing of
the underprivileged. He
serves as a consultant to the
ministries of Housing,_ Ab-
sorption and Education and
is a member of various gov-
ernment committees deal-
ing with crime, violence and
social integration.
Dr. Yaar is currently a
visiting scholar in residence
to the U.S., a senior re-
search associate at the Cen-
ter for Policy Research in
New York and a visiting
professor of sociology at
Columbia University.
The next parlor meeting
is scheduled for Wednesday,
Feb. 14, at the West Bloom-
field home of Jewish Wel-
fare Federation President
George M. Zeltzer. William
Korey, director of the Bnai
Brith International Coun-
cil, will speak.
