of a seminar sponsored by
the Department of Aliya.
The leaders of Dimona in-
formed_ us that the Black
Hebrews were model citi-
zens, both the adults and
the children. We were also
informed that among the
other children of Dimona,
vandalism was rampant.
Surely, the Black He-,
brews' beliefs and lifestyles
vary greatly from the Is-
raeli norm, but to compare
them to the People's Temple
is simply irresponsible. The
Black Hebrews are ex-
tremely considerate of all
persons within the Dimona
community. Whatever ad-
verse affect they might have
on other citizens is caused
by political factors, not the
Black Hebrews lifestyle.

Editor, The Jewish News:
Your story on the front
page of your issue of Jan. 12
in regards to the so-called
"Black Hebrews" was a
great distortion of these in-
dividuals. Your story
quoted residents of Dimona
as claiming that these
Black Hebrews "were hav-
ing an adverse affect on the
local youth and the commu-
nity in general." This sim-
ply is false.
In May of 1978, I studied
