Secretary of State Cyrus
Vance invites the two sides
to a direct round of talks (or
else invites himself to Cairo
and Jerusalem for a round
of shuttle diplomacy.
The U.S., it appears
would like to obtain at least
a modicum of progress on
some of the disputed issues
before the two protagonists
are brought together again.
Israel, while publicly
enunciating its readiness to
discuss the issues of Article
IV (the "review clause") and
of the "accompanying let-
ter" (the target date), has
not indicated — yet — any
substantive shift in its posi-
tion.
Similarly Egypt, while
leaking reports from Cairo
of a-"softening" in its stand,
has also not — yet — sig-
nalled precisely where that
softening might be.
Sen. Jacob K. Javits
(R-NY) called on
President Carter to con-
vene a new summit meet-
ing between Israel and
Egypt _"to finish the
negotiations embodied in
the Camp David accords
and to sign a treaty."
Javits stressed that "the
volatile .and critical situa-
tion in Iran makes even
more essential an
Israel-Egypt agreement
in order to counterba-
lance the effect on the
whole area of the turmoil
in Iran."
Javits declared, "The
time has come for a major
new effort by President Car-
.
ter to consummate the work the Camp David accords
of Camp David. The nearly and to sign a treaty."
completed negotiations for
the Israel-Egypt peace
treaty have been left dangl-
ing in the four weeks that
have passed since Secretary
(of State Cyrus) Vance's last
trip to the Mideast."
He said action is "all_the

situation in Iran with its

Therefore, the Senator

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
The World Zionist Organ-
ization EXecutive has ap-
pointed Bill Levine as direc-
tor general of its Organiza-
tion Department and Arye
Wolf as director general of
its Department for D_e-
velopment and Services.
Levine, 43, was born in
the United States and im-
migrated to Israel in 1972.
He began his Zionist career
as the director of the
Chicago area Student
Zionist Organization. Be-
fore making aliya, he was
the director of the American
Zionist Youth Foundation.
After arriving in Israel,
he was head of the Ameri-
can Desk of the WZO's
Organization and Informa-
tion Department. During
the last two years, Levine
served as director general
for overseas organization
affairs.
Wolf is the first director of
the recently established
Department for Develop-
ment and Services which is
headed by Avraham
Shenker. Born in Czechos-
lovakia, Wolf, 45, immig- ,

Not
reliable machine on,the market. It's practically jam proof.
That's because of our simple paper path. The shorter the
distance travelled, 'the less chance for jam ups. Our copies •
move a mere twelve inches from beginning to end. In some
Xerox machines a copy is forced to twist and turn over four
feet, very often ending up in the middle.
Another reason so many people switch off Xerox and on to
Savin is the copy itself. Ours are always clear, clean and
needle sharp, regardless of the original, whether you copy
on to one side or two. That's because the Savin 770 has a
mind. An electronic brain reads every original first and
makes whatever adjustments are necessary to give perfect
copies every time.
