The Best of Everything

(Continued from Page 24)
ever the reasons, you'll be
finding out about it at a
near future time.
AFTER
BEING
CLOSED eight months be-
cause of a,-fire, the sign has
gone up and El Nibble Nook
Mexican restaurant is open
again only half-mile south
of its original site . . . No
moire parking problems . .
seating for 160 at the Eight
Mile and Grand River locale
. . . El Nibble Nook is still
owned by Audrey and
Chuck Baier, whose Mexi-
can dishes are prepared and
served the same day .. .
without the use - of any
preservatives.
ANOTHER DISCO will
soon open -in Southfield .. .
and it will be known as the
Rosebud in American
Motors Bldg. on Franklin
Rd ... One of the owners is
Rosale
e Lieberman, whose
hubby is "Big Sam"
Lieberman, 6'8" former
basketball star with Lawr-
ence Tech and the old Jerry
Lynch pro. team (Detroit's
first) coached by "Cincy"

.

Sachs.

Rosebud will be some-
what of a takeoff on the
famous Ice Palace in New
York . . . and may have
helicopter service from
Metropolitan Airport .
plus limousine service to
and from hotels.
WOULD YOU BE-
LIEVE ... the cups you've
been drinking out of at most
delicatessens cost $2? . . . Or
the plate from $7 to $9? (No -
wonder owners shudder
even more now when trays
are dropped.)
RIB '1%1 CRAB on W.
Eight Mile, just west of
Evergreen, is now open
... The former chiroprac-
tor's home and office
transformed into a cozy
dining spot is featuring
what folks who've been
there are already declar-
ing as "the best ribs in
town" . . . and Alaskan
King Crab Legs among a
bevy of other items for
lunch and dinner.
The ribs are those little
Miami Ember baby backs
. . . the only ones served .. .
and made fresh on a rotis-
serie.
_ There is seating for 96 on
three floors, all carpeted .. .
Each little room has a char-
acter all its own . . . with
different chandelier and
wallpaper.
People who go to the Rib
`n Crab are given a tour of
the place if desired, includ-
ing the kitchen, where
cleanliness is a high pride
. . . Folks -are shown how the
ribs are made.
Piano bar entertain-
ment is both at lunch five
days and dinner six eve-
nings ... Waitresses and
waiters do the serving
and a well-lighted park-
ing lot offers valet
attendance. .
Fireplaces are on the
lower and main levels .. .
Cloth napkins and table
cloths are used . . . and fresh
fish is brought in daily.
Singing host and general
manager from spots around

town the. past 22 years is
Tommy Ascott . . . In the
kitchen is executive chef
Jimmy Petrillo, formerly of
the Fountainbleau Hotel in
Miami Beach.
Rib 'n Crab easily ranks
among the most intimate
dining places in this or any
area . . . and has been ea-
gerly awaited by many
people.
ALEXANDER'S
Jazz
Band is the Thursday night
attraction, 8-12, now at
Sussex House, 12 Mile and
Evergreen . . . playing Di-
xieland.
MAIL DEPT. ... "We
just had an outstanding
dinner in a beautiful new
restaurant in Fort Lauder-
dale, Fla., and wanted to
pass the information on to
you and all the other De-
troiters who plan on-being
in Florida this season, . .
Don't forget to order any of
the homemade desserts —
just great! We almost forgot
to tell you the name— Gib-
by's at 200 N.E. 12th Ter-
race."
—Libby and Lew Sklar
SID FRUMKIN tells of
the moron who went into a
_ restaurant with a thermos
bottle and asked if they had
coffee to go . . . The waitress
said yes, and the moron
handed her his thermos,
saying, "Okay, I'll have
three with cream and two
black."
RESERVATIONS ARE
NOT taken over the phone
at Oscar's Disco on North-
western . . . They must be
made in person after 7:30
p.m.. . . three to four days in
advance . . . and can only be
confirmed by either of two
people, Bill Grooms or John
Rogers . . . According to an-
other who called there, "It
can only be made by the
manager," so presumably
-Bill and John are those per-
sons . . . "There is space
sometimes available," Bill
told a phoner, "but we can-
not guarantee it."
HOW WOULD YOU like
to buy wine and have it chil-
led within 15 seconds before
leaving the store? . . . This is
