Quebec Immigration Advi-
sory Council.
Under a recent agree-
ment between the Canadian
and Quebec governments,
the province will have an
important role in the selec-
tion of immigrants to
Quebec and their integra-
tion into local society.
Jewish immigrants, ex-
cept those sponsored by
HIAS which aids immig-
rants in need of special as-
sistance, will be admitted to
Quebec under a new law
that gives priority to bilin-
gual persons. The children
of Jewish immigrants, in-
cluding those sponsored by
HIAS, will be required to
study French as their prin-
cipal language in com-
pliance with Law 101 on
education in the province.
