Yeshiva Puts in Formal Bid for OP's Roosevelt School Yeshivath Beth Yehudah has made a formal bid to purchase Roosevelt School on Greenfield, south of 10 Mile Rd., in Oak Park. Arthur Gold, a member of the yeshiva board, made a presentation about the bid to the Oak Park Board of Education on Dec. 11. According to Rabbi Nor- man Kahn, Beth Yehudah administrator, the yeshiva has been attempting to pur- chase the building for sev- eral years in order to ex- pand its programs. The ye!-.;va hastily put together an offer and raised the five percent deposit required when it learned in recent weeks that the Oak Park Schools were receiving bids for Roosevelt. The yeshiva would like to use the Roosevelt building as a boys' dor- mitory and possibly for some classrooms. Rabbi Kahn said the yeshiva's Beit Midrash (college) program has 35 students, with at least 30 more on the waiting list. He said the yeshiva's high school program is also "crowded" and said a dor- mitory facility would allow expansion of all of the yeshiva's programs and permit many Detroit area students to study here rather than leave the city for junior or senior year or college study. Rabbi Kahn said pur- chase of Roosevelt by the yeshiva is subject to the ap- proval of the yeshiva board. He said the yeshiva will also consult with the Jewish Welfare Federation about the possible purchase. The Oak Park Schools have received other bids for Roosevelt and plans to offi- cially open the bids on Jan. 22. The number of bids and prices has not been dis- closed. 355-1590 353-9199 626-5536 Your One Stop Shop 9gralorite 1atior.4 CENTERPIECES ORIGINALLY DESIGNED FRESH OR ARTIFICIAL — FAVORS INVITATIONS, STATIONERY-20% OFF BEV KURT'S DORSEY MENKEN DORIS CORNFIELD ANNOUNCING Jeff Dembs Is Now Booking Directly For DISCO PARTIES 13 yrs. experience with social directing & dance instruc- tion Bar Mitzvahs - Sweet Sixteens Adult Parties, Etc.
