Wins Film Grant
WALTHAM, Mass. —
The American Jewish His-
torical Society, with the
cooperation of Brandeis
University, has received a
matching grant of $41,400
from the American Film
Institute-Arts Endowment
Film Archival Program to
begin the rehabilitation of a
major collection of Yiddish
feature films recently ac-
quired by the society.
The Rutenberg and
Everett Yiddish Film Li-
brary of the American
Jewish Historical Society,
the largest extant collection
of Yiddish films in the free
world, contains 37 titles.
These films, produced in the
United States and Poland in
the 1930s and '40s include
"Tevye," "Green Fields,"
"Mirele Efros," "The Dyb-
buk" and "Uncle Moses.'
The AFI-Arts Grant will
make possible the inclusion
