Tikva six-year-old Rena
Janas of Jordan is a patient.
She suffers from kidney
trouble. Her father, a rich
merchant, Sian Janas, went
with the sick child to
famous doctors in Europe,
but all efforts failed to cure
the child.
After an opel-ation in
Europe the child got an in-
fection. Her life was
endangered. The doctors in
Jordan told the unhappy
father that they are unable
to save the child. They ad-
vised him to take the child
to Israel.
Janas is a Palestinian. He
was born in the village
Wadi Arara, which is be-
tween Hadera and Afula. In
the War of Independence in
1948 he fled with his family
to Jordan. Israel is not un-
known to him. In the Wadi
Arara village some rela-
tives remained, and he used
to visit them nearly every
year.

doctor in the Hilel Jaffe
hospital in Madera. Dr.
Janas contacted the di-
rector of the urological
department in Beilinson
Hospital, the famous
Prof. Tshera Servadie.
He examined the child
and advised surgery.
The difficult operation
lasted three hours. The
child regained conscious-
ness one hour after the Op-
eration. Prof. Servadie said
that such an operation was
only seldom made in the
hospital. It is only done if
