Student, Aide
Program Begins

- United Hebrew Schools is
initiating a new program
involving its high school
and elementary branches —
student aides. High school
students will be trained to
recognize common Hebrew
reading problems via
video-tape recordings and to
help elementary school stu-
dents overcome these prob-
lems.
The aides will meet in
orientation sessions with
Dr. Jay Stern, Mrs. Bea
Kriechman and Mrs. Renee
Wohl and observe classroom
situations. Student aides
will be placed in each of the
four elementary branches:
Adat Shalom, Bnai David,
Beth Achim and Bnai
Moshe. The program has al-
ready begun in the hearing
impaired class.

for Study in Israel

Applications are being
taken for the Harry and
Sarah Laker Israel Youth
Scholarship award.

The scholarship, which
will be awarded in May
1979, totals $1,500 and will
be given to a student who
has already applied for ad-
mission to an Israeli uni-
versity — Bar-Ilan Univer-
sity, Ben-Gurion Univer-
sity of the Negev; Haifa
University, Hebrew Uni-
versity, Technion and Tel-
Aviv University.

Applicants must be resi-
dents of the state of Michi-
gan and they will be inter-
viewed by the selection
committee.
