The remarks were made by Rabbi Irving Block of the Brotherhood Synagouge, and Rev. Thomas Pike, pas- tor of the Calvary and St. George's Churches. Rabbi Block expressed his fear that the United States government was using a double standard in making its judgements on Jerusalem. He asked why Administration spokesmen considered East Jerusalem "occupied Arab territory" now, "though they were si- lent between 1948 and 1967 when the area was ruled by Jordan." He insisted, "The city of Jerusalem has been Jewish for thousands of years and must remain Jewish." Pike listed some of the problems the Chris- tian community faces when coming to terms with "the idea of a unified Jerusalem." At the top of the list he put the fact that many Christians "still see Jerusalem as an idea and not as a place of people." He noted that there is an increasing willingness among Christians to see JERUSALEM (JTA) — A proposal to establish sepa- rate movements among world Jewry — one for aliya and one for support of Israel — will be raised at next month's meeting of the World Zionist Organization Executive. 355-2929 Proudly Presents Its GREAT COMING EVENTS DIXIELAND Wth HANK WARREN And His Orchestra MON., DEC. 25 HANUKA & XMAS FEAST COMBINATION BRUNCH & DINNER COMBINATION PACKAGE Complete Dinner, Choice of Prime Rib or • Whole Maine Lobster • Open Bar Wine With Dinner • Champagne at Midnight Hats & Favors • Dancing in Ballroom & Lounge Live Entertainment • Continental Breakfast Taxes & Gratuities Included $7995 per couple (With Room $25 extra) FOR RESERVATIONS: 355-2929 g 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. NEW YEAR'S EVE • • • • the reality of Israel as well as the spiritual Is- rael, but stressed that this spiritualism, which he said "stems from the nature of the Christian religious experience, is still the number one problem." Katz's department is pre- sently preparing for the ar- rival in three weeks of 1,400 Jewish youth from Latin America who will partici- pate in "Operation Oranges" during their two-month summer vaca- tion. Likud MK Avraham Katz, chairman of the WZO's Youth and Hechalutz Department, said the distinction between "Zionists" and "non- Zionists" affiliated respec- tively with the Zionist movement and the Jewish Agency is no longer relev- ant. "There are Zionists who don't intend to come on aliya but busy themselves with local Zionist politics, and there are non-Zionists who are active fund-raisers and plan aliya,"__he said. In place of such distinc- tions, Katz will propose formation of a new "Bilu" movement for those plan- ning to immigrate to Israel, and revival of the "Hovevei Zion" movement for those who want to help Israel even though they aren't planning aliya. can suit his temper to any circumstance.
