Jewish organizations to re-
spond to the Oct. 30
documentary, "Terror in the
Promised Land."
Panush said if the net-
work and the station do not
grant equal time, the ZOD
will protest renewal of Ch
7's license when the license
is reviewed by the Federal
Communications Commis-
sion.
In a seven-page letter,
Panush pointed out five
_distortions in the hour-
long documentary and
listed facts to refute
them.
The Panush' letter con-
cluded:
"In spite of the disclaim-
ers by Mr. Frank Reynolds,
the program commentator,
the program actually sup-
ported the terrorists. The
murderers' justifications
were bolstered with slanted
material selected to
legitimize their crimes. The
result is bound to have an
impact on the thinking and
feeling of viewers toward
Jews and Israel.
"There is no doubt in our
minds that the ABC pro-
_ gram was deliberately
slanted to brain-wash the
public to accept the terrorist
justification for their
crimes. Nowhere in your
program was the terrorist
version of history ques-
tioned. Nowhere was the
idea explored that the refu-
gees are not bonafide refu-
gees, but rather a weapon
being used in a war against
the Jewish state of Israel by
Arab states guided by reli-
gious intolerance and whose
extremism is being
exploited by the Soviet
Union in their efforts to
take over in Africa, Asia
and the Middle East.
"How many years of
propaganda against Jews
did it take before the
Holocaust was possible?
What will be the result, if
all that the public hears or
reads is similar to what was
in that broadcast?"

The

Celebration of
Christmas Out

NEW YORK — Children
from homes firmly rooted in
the traditional Judaism
probably will not ask to
celebrate Christmas, but if
they do parents should re-
fuse to permit it, a leading
psychoanalyst advises.
Dr. Alice Ginott, writing
in the December issue of
Ladies' Home Journal,
stated, "Not only the es-
sence of Christmas — the
birth of Jesus — but all the
customs associated with it
are out of bounds. To be
sure, the children in that
traditional Jewish home
may admire their friends'
Christmas tree, take pleas-
ure in their gifts, wish them
joy in their celebration
. . . . ,
To pretend that Christ-
mas is not a religious holy
day, said the psychoanalyst,
"is to distort reality. Still,
many parents persist be-
cause they feel guilty and
helpless when their chil-
dren are unhappy."
