Writers Corner Helper Saluted 6 PCS. REG. $2,792 Editor, The Jewish News: Twenty years ago, in the Dexter area branch of the Jewish Community Center, Grace Zellman — a dedi- cated volunteer — formed a group of seniors called "Shreibers Vinkle" which later became "Writers Corner." She admonished those who insisted they could not write, but would be happy "to listen," with the advice, "Write of things you know and talk about. Put on paper how and why you left Europe. You have interest- ing experiences some times. Don't worry about your English." After Grace Zellman passed away, Writers Corner was blessed with guidance from Norma Goldman, whose father Benjamin Wynick was one of the original members. Al- though she is a Latin and English professor at Wayne State University, an author and homemaker, she de- votes countless hours edit- ing and attending meetings, which are held at the Ten Mile Center branch. Every year there has been a Writers Journal contain- ing the articles and poems which have been approved: In recent years, Writers Corner has become "com- mercial!" The soft-cover Journal, printed by the Jewish Community Center, has prestige — it gets sold at the annual Jewish Book Fair, thanks to Norma Goldman's devotion. . Eve Dishell KUM WHILE STOCKS LAST!
