Working a 20-hour day, Rose never had time to meet her, most loyal customers. "I think some of them thought I was unfriendly and I'm sorry about that, but I couldn't stop working to talk." Ten years later, she realized that her feet were slowly giving out, and, with tears in her eyes, she sold the business. "I was re- placed by five chefs," she smiles. . But this tiny woman with the sparkling eyes and inde- fatigable energy was not cut out for retirement.
