Dr. Tanter is a nationally recognized expert on the Middle East. He is associate chairmah of the political science department at the U-M where he teaches' courses in American foreign policy. He has served on the editorial boards of "Mid- dle East Review" and "International Rela- tions," as well as on the executive committee of American Professors for Peace in the Middle East. He is a member of the advisory committee for - policy research and analysis of the U.S. Na- tional Science- Founda- tion and has lectured ex- tensively throughout the world, including to the Israeli Foreign-Ministry. He has served as visiting professor at Hebrew Uni- versity in Jerusalem and at Tel Aviv University.
