Dr. Tanter will deal with
the implications of the Iran
situation and its economic,
political and military
ramifications; how these
events affect Israel's secu-
rity, her oil supply and their
impact on the prospects for
Middle East peace.
Dr. Tanter is a nationally
recognized expert on the
Middle East. He is associate
chairmah of the political
science department at the
U-M where he teaches'
courses in American
foreign policy.
He has served on the
editorial boards of "Mid-
dle East Review" and
"International Rela-
tions," as well as on the
executive committee of
American Professors for
Peace in the Middle East.
He is a member of the
advisory committee for -
policy research and
analysis of the U.S. Na-
tional Science- Founda-
tion and has lectured ex-
tensively throughout the
world, including to the
Israeli Foreign-Ministry.
He has served as visiting
professor at Hebrew Uni-
versity in Jerusalem and at
Tel Aviv University. He has
also spent time in Iran and
is an authority on oil and
armaments and their rela-
tionship to peace and world
politics. _

Programs at the Hoover In-
stitute at Stanford Univer-
sity and serves as a consul-

Two new congregations in
New Jersey bring to 27 the
number of Reconstruc-
tionist synagogues in the
U.S.

The movement now in-
cludes 6,500-7,000 families
in the synagogues and eight
havurot in Colorado, New
York, California, Mary-
land, Florida, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania and Illinois.
