Reifm-an received the
Golden Torah Award and
Mrs. Laufer, president of
the Ladies of Yeshivath
Beth Yehudah, was also
honored.
Sen. Lowell Weicker (R-
Conn.) was the guest
speaker. He criticized the
Carter Administration for
trying to force a comprehen-
sive settlement in the Mid-
dle East and called for a
separate peace between
Egypt and Israel.
He also said the Ameri-
can Jewish community -
should overcome "its reluc-
tance to speak out against
the perils of the present ap-
proach" of the Carter Ad-
ministration.

Inmate to Get
Kosher Food

NEW YORK — For the
first time, a New York State
prison has accepted respon-
sibility to provide kosher
food for an inmate, thanks
to legal help provided by the
American Jewish Congress.
Federal Judge Whitman
Knapp ordered a stipulation
under which an Orthodox
Jewish inmate of Greenha-
ven Prison will now receive
kosher TV dinners and in-
dividually packaged break-
fasts.
