It is claimed by some

Exports Up, But
So Are Services

TEL AVIV (ZINS) — In
the first half of 1978, Is-
rael's exports reached $1.8
billion, compared to $1.4
billion in the same period in
1977.
But economists are con-
cerned by Israel's continu-
ing trend of having a high
percentage of her work force
in service jobs (55 percent
compared to Europe's 40
percent).
Only 30 percent of the Is-
raeli work force is in con-
struction, industry or ag-
riculture. The figure for
other developed countries is
40-60 percent.

More than 50 percent of
all scientific research in Is-
rael is carried out by the
universities.
