Harvey Prize in Science in
1975 and a pioneer in the
production of nuclear power
for peace.
Dr. Teller spoke on a
number of subjects,
among them California
Gov. Jerry Brown, who
he blasted for his stand
against nuclear reactors.
On the Mideast situation,
Dr. Teller said. "I still
can't believe the good
news of Camp David. I
hope peace will be set-
tled."
He cited the Technion for
its developments of solar
and nuclear energy for
peaceful purposes.
D. Dan Kahn, chairman
of the board of the Detroit
Chapter, was master of
ceremonies. He recalled
past projects funded by the
Detroit Chapter and called
for increases in pledges
owning to rising costs. He
alluded to the new Ford
Transportation Chair pro-
ject.
Past president of the De-
troit Chapter and national
vice president Sam Rich
spoke on past and ongoing
projects of the Detroit Chap-
ter.
Dr. Joseph N. Epel deli-
vered the benediction. Sea-
ted on the dais were Louis
Milgrom, president of the
Detroit Chapter; Mrs. Mil-
grom; Mrs. Kahn; Lou Levi-
tan, former Detroiter,
senior vice president of the
American Society for
Technion and a member of
the international board of
governors; and Dr. Henry J.
Leadership during very
critical years for Jews over-
seas marked Martin Cit-
rin's active role in the
Jewish Welfare Federation
and on the national scene.
On his 50th birthday,
Nov. 16, Citrin can point
with pride to the achieve-
ments of the movement he
has been leading and to the
recognition attained na-
tionally and in Israel by the
Greater Detroit Jewish
community during his years
of service.
Citrin, who will leave the
Federation presidency at
the end of this month after
serving three years, is a
vice president of the na-
tional Council of Jewish
Federations, an association
of more than 200 local fed-
erations, welfare funds and
community councils.
In Detroit, Citrin serves
on the boards of United
Jewish Charities, Sinai
Hospital, Resettlement
Service, Fresh Air Soci-
ety and Tamarack Hills
Authority.. He is a
member of Federation's
Capital Needs and Cash
Mobilization Commit-
tees. He as served as
treasurer of the Jewish
Community Center, sec-
retary of Federation
Apartments and vice
president of the Jewish
Community Center.
