LEONARD SIMONS

50th anniversary of the De-
troit Historical Museum.
He was a charter member
of the DHC board when it
was established in 1946 and
served on it nearly 30 years.
Moreover, he was princi-
pally involved in the fund-
raising drive which sup-
ported the construction of
the present Historical
Museum at Woodward and
Kirby Avenues.
His career also has in-
volved the support of
numerous educational
foundations and Jewish
organizations, most not-
ably Temple Beth El,
American Friends of
Hebrew University, Al-
lied Jewish Campaign,
Marygrove College, Un-
ited Foundation, Wayne
State University and the
United Negro College
Fund.
Among the many boards
on which Simons has served
are those of Sinai Hospital,
Detroit Round Table of the
National Conferenre of
Christians and Jews;
Michigan Cancer Founda-
tion, Detroit Historical Soc-
iety and the Hillel Founda-
tions of the University of
Michigan and Wayne State
University.
