Detroiters Speak
at Yeshiva Parley
on Bereavement

Detroiters Mr. and Mrs.
David (Ilene) Techner will
participate in the fifth an-
nual -interdisciplinary edu-
cational conference on be-
reavement and grief to be
held Nov. 28 at Yeshiva
University.
The conference is de-
signed to help professionals
provide more effective serv-
ice to those facing the possi-
bility of imminent death or
bereavement. Sponsored by
the university, the Jewish
Funeral Directors of
America, Inc., and allied
professionals, _the confer-
ence, will deal with the
theme "An Interprofes-
sional Dialogue for Those
Who Serve the Bereaved."
Mrs. Techner is a staff
nurse in the child and
adolescent psychiatry
unit at Mount Carmel
Mercy Hospital in De-
troit, and her husband is
a funeral director at Ira
Kaufman Chapel in
Southfield.
Both will address a work-
shop on "Intervention With
Families Who Have Experi-
enced 'Sudden Infant
Death.' "

Disease Fund
Meeting Planned

The Michigan Hodgkin's
Disease Foundation will
hold its monthly meeting
7:30 p.m. Monday in the
Fisher Auditorium of Pro-
vidence Hospital.
Sylvia Brown of the Chil-
dren's Leukemia Founda-
tion and Kathy Lipiec of the
Michigan Cancer Founda-
tion will speak. The public
is invited free of charge.

The Jewish Community
Center has announced
many programs of interest
to the community to be held
in the forthcoming weeks.
The Center will conduct a
"fun run" 9 a.m. Sunday at
the main building. At 10:30
a.m., Robert McOmber,
winner of the Detroit Free
Press International
Marathon, will speak. For

At 10 a.m. Sunday, the
men's health club will spon-
sor a squash exhibition
match 'featuring Frank
Cushman and Howard Taxi.
Refresilments will be
served.
Registration for the
winter session will take
place 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Nov.
19 at the main Center.
Classes begin Dec. 3.
Classes will be available
to all age groups and in
many disciplines, including
art, physical education and

Diving classes for youth
age 6 and older will begin
the week of Dec. 3. Classes
will be offered at 4 p.m.
Tuesday and Wednesday.

Center, beginning Dec. 7.

for Attorney

honored by his community
at a tribute luncheon on be-
half of Israel Bonds, 12:30
p.m. Nov. 19 at Temple Bnai
Shalom in Benton Harbor.
Keller will be the reci-
pient of Israel's 30th An-
niversary Award, "in rec-
ognition of his dedication to
his community and Jewish
causes here and in Israel."
The event is chaired by
Michael Lieberman and Lee
Schwartz.
Guest speaker will be Ab-
raham Tannenbaum, a
lawyer and business consul-
tant who has held impor-
tant posts with the Ameri-
can Zionist movement and
who has made frequent vis-
its to Israel, meeting with
top government leaders.
