and has served in many top capacities. With her hus-

German Law
Change Asked

BONN (JTA) — The
Society for Christian-
Jewish Cooperation has
petitioned the West Ger-
man parliament to rescind
the statute of limitations on
the prosecution of Nazi war
criminals, which goes into
effect on December 31,
1979. They called it a
loophole through which
Nazi murderers could es-
cape justice.
The statute of limitation,s
law originally became effec-
tive 20 years after the com-
mission of a crime. It was
extended to 30 years at the
insistence of organizations
of Nazi victims, who noted
that many wanted war
criminals have managed to
evade arrest. They are now
pressing for a further exten-
sion or outright abolition of
the -statute in war crimes
cases.

Meat is what makes coffee
go bitter. If coffee is kept
cold, it will stay fresh-
tasting longer. Remember
these leftover coffee sugges=
tions:
• Pour the coffee in a
clean glass jar. Cover it and
put it in the refrigerator. It
should stay good-tasting at
least 24 hours.
• Reheat it gently. Don't
let it boil. You'll be amazed
at how good it tastes.
• Mix coffee reheated as
above with a pot of fresh-
made. A good way to stretch
coffee when company drops
in.
Coffee goes so well with
freshly baked cakes. For

NEW YORK (JTA) —
The Jewish National Fund
has asked the American
Broadcasting Co. "for a pub-
lic retraction" of the "er-
roneous and misleading re-
presentation" of Raanan
Weitz as the director of the
JNF in one sequence of the
documentary film "Terror
in the Promised Land,"
broadcast by the ABC-TV
network Oct. 30.
Dr. Samuel I. Cohen,
executive vice president of
the JNF, said "The ABC
film described Mr. Weitz as
the director of the Jewish
National Fund and he then,
in response to allegations
that Israel had expropriated
Arab land, proceeded to
make statements that did
not in any way reflect the
policies and activities of the
JNF."
Weitz is co-chairman of
the World Zionist Organiza-
tion's settlement depart-
ment.
Cohen said, "We also
wish to be afforded the
opportunity to assure all
Americans who believe
in the cause of Israel, that

ABC officials charged
that the Anti-Defamation
League of Bnai Brith was
responsible for pre-
broadcast phone-his.
' The ADL's general coun-
sel, Arnold Forster, said
ABC television's false as-
sertion that ADL organized
telephone calls by children
protesting the network's
pro-PLO program is "silly
on its face."
According to Forster, "If
we were to organize phone
calls, we would not have to
use children. In fact, we did
urge our constituents to
tune in the program and af-
terwards express them-
selves as they saw fit to the
network about the broad-
cast."

Forster said the ADL
would "analyze every word
and scene" of the documen-
tary for "any suspicion of
falsification" and, in that
case, would "file an appro-
priate complaint with the
FCC."

Local Federation
Wins Media Prize

Detroit's Jewish Welfare
Federation is a winner in
this year's national public
relations competition spool
sored by the Council
'Jewish Federations.
The Federation was cited
for television and radio spot
advertisements used in the
'1978 Campaign. James M.
August and his colleagues
at the advertising firm of
Yaffe Stone August, Inc.,
prepared the ads with the
help of volunteer technical
crews and actors. Milton
Berle donated his talents as
the voice-over narrator for
the television spots, which
were aired by local stations
as a public service.
