In 1947 and 1948 he chaired the group's "Save Overseas Survivors" effort, which collected tons of food and clothing for European Jews. He moved on to the Real Estate Division in the 1950s, serving as its chair- man in 1956. Berman has been a member of the Cam- paign Cabinet since 1970. Berman was a Federa- tion vice president in 1972, when he was elected prsident, a posi- tion he held through 1975. He currently serves on numerous agency boards and Federation budget and planning commit- tees. Uri Lubrani, ambassador and head of the Israeli mis- sion in Tehran, Iran, will speak at the Israel Bond Medical Physician Di- vision's dinner dance 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The event, to be held at Congregation Shaarey Zedek, will honor Dr. Ar- nold R. Axelrod, recipient- elect of Israel's Maimonides Award. Ambassador Lubrani was born in Haifa and served with the Hagana and Pal- mach. He studied at Oxford and returned to Israel to serve in the Israel Defense Forces during the War of Independence. He then attended London's Univer- sity College and after graduation served with the Israel embassy in London.
