Jewish Camping Aiding the Youth Editor, The Jewish News: I too share your concern that was expressed in your Purely Commentary col- umn on Oct. 20, 1978. I also feel that there should be . concern expressed by our community about the effec- tiveness of its educational system. While' I do not disagree with the approach of Dr. Eli Grad, I would suggest that there are other approaches that may also be successful in addition to the ones he suggested. In my experience I have found the camping move- - - -ment;--especially, the-Re- form camping movement, to produce kids that are strongly motivated, turned on to Judaism and Jewish knowledge. Perhaps there is I a technique to create this intensive Jewish camping experience in a more mod- ified form in our city life. Perhaps it is possible not only. to use it for children but to develop it for adults as well. Perhaps it can be used to educate the whole family. Henry R. Winkelman 6122 Orchard Lake Rd W.
