of Teddy Kollek, mayor of
Jerusalem, Dr. Abraham I.
Katsh will be a guest of the
city at Mishkinot
Sha'ananim, which means
"peaceful dwellings."
The apartment dwellings
were originally constructed
in 1860 on the initiative of
Sir Moses Montifiore as the
first building outside the
protective walls of they, Old
City. As a result, they were
the first dwellings , to be
built in the modern city of
Jerusalem. The dwellings
were restored by the city in
its original style, fully
equipped and modernized,
as a major contribution to
the intellectual and artistic
life of Jerusalem.
Dr. Katsh, president
emeritus and presently dis-
tinguished research profes-
sor at the Dropsie Univer-
sity, will devote his stay in
Jerusalem to complete the
third and final volume of his
Cairo Geniza Talmud, and
also prepare a new edition of
his earlier book on
"Judaism in Islam."

Collection in the Saltykov-
Shehedrin Library in
Leningrad. Dr. Katsh was
the first scholar permitted
by the USSR government to
microfilm the collection and
he was the only person to
prepare a printed catalogue
of the massive collection. of
Judaica and Hebraica books
and manuscripts.

DR. ABRAHAM KATSH

will include new material
which he discovered in
his researches last year
at the libraries in Oxford,
England, and during his
sabbatical at the Oxford
Centre of Postgraduate
Hebrew Studies.
Scheduled for publication
early in the new year will be
"Ginze Talmud Babli, No.
2," which will complete pub-
lication of the entire Tal-
mud text according to the
talmudic fragments found
in the Cairo Geniza.
