City of Hope. Businessmen Black-Tie Affair Is Sunday

Group, City f Hope, wi ll
hold its 63rd annual black
tie dinner-dance Sunday at
Fairlane Manor.
Its affair this year will be
in commemoration of the
"breakthrough" by City of
Hope in the human man-

ufacturing of insulin for
diabetics.
Guest speaker will be Dr.
Aaron Levenstein, author
and educator, professor of
management at Bernard M.
Baruch College of the City
University of New York.
Prof. Levenstein is the
author of leading works
in the field of manage-
ment theor,-, especially in
the area of manpower
utilization.
Dr. Levenstein is widely
known as an authority on
health care administration.

Composer Julius Chajes,
a part-time music faculty
member at Wayne State
University, has received the
American Society of Com-
posers, Authors and Pub-
lishers (ASCAP) Award for
the 15th consecutive year.
Conductor of the Jewish
Community Center's sym-
phony orchestra, Chajes
was born in Lwow, Poland,
and gave his first recital
and penned his first musical
composition at age 9.
In 1933, Chajes was
named honor prize winner
at the first international
competition for pianists in
Vienna and was appointed
head of the piano depart-
ment at the Music College
in Tel Aviv one year later.
Chajes came to the
United States in December
1937 and performed in three
recitals in New York's Town
Hall that same month.

timony for Man , the Stor y of
the City' of Hope." During
the Bangladesh crisis he
served as director of the In-
ternational Resscue Com-
mittee's program of relief
for refugees in India where-
more than 250,000 patients
a month were being treated.
During the academic year
1977-78, Prof. Levenstein
was designated the Dean's
Distinguished Lecturer at
Baruch College.
