Hebrew University in
Jerusalem.
Mr. Mirelman retired
from public life in 1960 but
10 years later he founded
the Albert Einstein Medical
Research Center here and
co-founded the DAIA.

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
Isador S. Tourover, a retired
leader of the building and
construction industry who
was prominent in Jewish af-
fairs for many years, died
Oct. 16 at age 86.
Mr. Tourover was a
former national treasurer
and honorary vice president
of the Zionist Organization
of America and headed the
Louis D. Brandeis Zionist
District and the Seaboard
Zionist Region of the ZOA.
He served as president and
campaign manager of the
United Jewish Appeal of
Greater Washington. He
was a pioneer member and
trustee of Cong. Adas Israel.
Mr. Tourover was born in
Poland and came to the
United States in 1912. In
1923 he founded a lumber
and construction company
which subsequently built
buildings for the federal
government and private
housing. In 1946 he helped
finance the purchase of the
Chesapeake Bay steamer-
"President Warfield"
which, re-named "Exodus,"
attempted to carry Jewish
refugees to Palestine
through the British block-
ade.

can Jewish Historical
Society is the cornerstone of
a major fund-raising cam-
paign to commemorate the
90th anniversary of the
founding of the society:

Historical Society houses
60,000 volumes, 4 million
pages of manuscripts,
thousands of periodicals
and newspapers, hundreds
of paintings, photographs
and artifacts. It possesses

BUENOS AIRES (JTA)
— Simon Mirelman, a
prominent industrialist,
philanthropist and leader of
the Jewish community for
more than 30 years, died re-
cently at age 84.
Mr. Mirelman, who was
born in London of Russian
emigre parents, came to
Argentina after World War
I and, with his brothers, es-
tablished a successful tex-
tile inudstry.
Between 1930 and 1960
his Jewish affiliations in-
cluded the Bnai Brith, ORT,
the Jewish Association for
Aid to the Allies in World
War II, the Argentine sec-
tion of the Joint Distribu-
tion Committee, the Argen-
tine Jewish Association
which cooperated with the
American Jewish Commit-
tee, the United Jewish Ap-
peal and Israel Bonds. He
was president of a local
Jewish hospital and was
especially active in support
of Israel. He received an
