Family Planning
Services Asked

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
Seven Jewish and Protes-
tant denominational lead-
ers have joined together to
petition Congress to retain
the family planning serv-
ices currently included in
the Health Services
Amendments of 1978, it was
reported here by the Reli-
gious Coalition for Abortion
Rights.
These services include
-th control and abortion
inseling. The amend-
ments (HR 12370) will soon
be considered by the House.
The Jewish leaders peti-
tioning Congress are: Rabbi
Balfour Brickner, director,
Interreligious Activities,
Union of American Hebrew
Congregations; Simon
Schwartz, president, United
Synagogue of America; and
Rabbi Benjamin Z. Kreit-
man, executive vice
president, United
Synagogue of America.

Navon will speak at the
plenary session Nov. 11, at
the Fairmont Hotel. Simcha
Dinitz, Israel's Ambassador
to the U.S., in a farewell ap-
pearance before he returns
to Israel, will also speak at
the session.

Navon will also address
the American Zionist Fed-
eration convention at Gros-
singers, New York, on Nov.
12.

Jerusalem Hilton
Kashrut Restored

JERUSALEM — The
Jerusalem Hilton has been
awarded a permahent kas-
hrut certificate ., after the
hotel management agreed
to implement 17 strict con-
ditions stipulated by the ci-
ty's Ashkenazi .:chief rabbi,
Bezalel Zolti.

The chief rabbinate's
kashrut department had
earlier revoked the five-star
hotel's temporary certifi-
cate because of "ir-
gularities in kashrut and
abbath observance," most
of which had been denied by
the hotel.

Among the conditions
were: no bills will be signed
by guests on the Sabbath;
only non-Jews will mark ac-
counts or register guests'
bills on the Sabbath; no
foreign-made wines will be
on the menu; all foreign-
made vessels will be im-
mersed before use in a ritual
bath; no smoking in dining
rooms on Shabbat; stores
closed on the Sabbath; there
will be no annual Christmas
party; and meat will be pur-
chased only from certified
Jerusalem suppliers.
