Nine Are Dead
in Israel Traffic
JERUSALEM (JTA) —
The long holiday weekend
in Israel claiined the lives of
nine people, with 19 seri-
ously injured and 14
slightly injured in traffic
accidents.
The country's roads were
jammed with vacationers,
many of them taking long
trips to the Sinai and the
Rafiah Salient — perhaps
the last such Sukkot trips
for a long time.
But the holiday involved
133 traffic accidents and a
rd fatality rate equal to
average week's rate.
The accidents were partly
caused by slippery roads,,
following one night of the
first early winter showers.
