Discussion with others reveals that Ed- jo's serves excellent Pic- kerel, also . . . and when it has White Fish, the sea darling tasty is hard to beat . . . The_steaks, too. Edjo's also takes its place as one of the few places that bring your tartar sauce in a pottery crock instead of those lit- tle paper cups . . . We had a very fine, most efficient waitress, Vicki Steven- son, who graciously brought us cloth napkins (another Edjo's goodie) and a very fine tossed salad. We weren't there at the time, but have heard about the wonderful Happy Hour moments at .4:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. . . . with plenty of hors d'oeuvres served . . . egg rolls, chicken wings, etc. _Owner Frank Passalacqua is the kind of fellow you like to see suc- ceedbecause he works hard at trying to satisfy people . . . Having just ofie-half of the dining crowd (few women like to watch exotic dancing) is something we hope Frank will change . . . He should . . . the food is much too good not to have everyone able to enjoy it. DAVE GANUS is back at the Hungarian Village on Springwells . . . which is good news . . . Now it will again be as it should . . . real Hungarian. 120-SEATER is Nappy's eatery opened short while ago by Nancy Shook and Pete Peponis . . . former Northwest dining favorites . . . It's on Mt. Elliot and Conant . . . serving Greek, Italian and American food. GET WELL WISHES . to Ziggy Bela, gypsy vio- linst from way back . . . re- cuperating from a heart at- tack. - LOVING CUP, featur- ing Marlene Hill, is at The Lion and The Sword on Ford Rd., corner Merriman, in Garden City. THE WORDS of the world's great female writers come to life onstage when The Acting Company per- forths "The Other Half" at the Birmingham Theater, Oct. 26, 27 and 28 . . . It is one of three plays to be per- formed by the repertory company of classically trained young actors under the direction of John Houseman, Michael Kahn and Alan Schneider. Shakespeare's immortal love story, "Romeo and Juliet" will be presented Oct. 29 . . . and Jean Anouilh's "Antigone" is a two-dayer, Oct. 30 and 31. Birmingham Theater's first season of dance opens with the Alvin Ailey Repet- ory Ensemble . . . Seven Mile, just west of Middlebelt, has already begun carving a name as one of the aria's finest authentic Mexican restaurants. Last time we were there was prior to its opening, and our fine waitress, Karen Mitchell, served us at a food-tasting session . . . The food hasn't changed . . . it's still very good . . . This time, though, we had an expert with us .. . son Scott, who considerS Mexican food only two ways . , . good or bad .. . His impression was one of slight shock . . . he didn't think the former Cordoba restaurant's new Mexican cuisine was going to be so finger-licking delish. A basket of hot tortilla chips are brought to the table . . . (and we were lucky to sit down in Karen's sta- tion) . . . along with two. sauces, hot and mild . . . We both had the guacamole ap- petizer (chopped avocados blended with tomatoes, on- ions, cilantro and Mexican cheese and served with corn chips) . . . Then a cup of the best Chili this side of Texas . . . Scott and I made a little mistake . . . we should have split on Platillo Mexican°, . . . so much food . . . espe cially after the chili . . . A Platillo plate has a taco, an enchilada, burrito, tamale and tostada . . . filled with beef, etc.. . . served with re- fried beans and rice. A strolling Mexican guitarist sings romantic ballads to compliment the tastefully done surround- ings. 2 50/ - Repeat by Popular Request °O FF MON.
