The Best of Everything

THE NEWEST Magic

Pan Creperie, specializing
in entree and dessert crepes,
is a 140-seater at Twelve
Oaks Mall, Novi, on the
upper level adjacent to Lord
& Taylor and Sears
Its interior design has the
cheerful look of a European
country inn . . . beamed ceil-
ings, polished wood floors
and brick walls accented
with an abundance of live
plants and trees, colorful
fabrics and antiques .. .
Fresh daisies are on every
table . . . Waitresses in
Austrian-style dress and
waiters in red butcher ap-
rons add to the informal,
friendly atmosphere.
Ken Trapasso, personable
manager of the new Magic
Pan, is originally from
Utica, N.Y., joining the cor-
poration two years ago in
Boston and in the Detroit
area for 19 months since . . .
most recently as manager of
the Lakeside Magic Pan.
Name of the restaurant,
which originated in San
Francisco, is taken from the
patented wheel, holding up-
side down crepe pans, that
rotates over a gas flame .. .
Each pan is dipped in batter
and placed on the rotating
wheel . . . After one revolu-
tion, the crepe is perfectly
cooked and ready for a
variety of fillings.

The entree crepes are
filled with beef, chicken,
seafood and other fare .. .
For dessert, the crepes
include fresh fruit and ice
cream, covered with
sauces ... Salads and
soups are popular com-
plements to the luncheon
or dinner entrees.

Cocktails are served at
the complete bar . . . which
also includes house wines
by the glass or carafe.
A crepe is an elegant
French cousin of the pan-
cake . . . The big difference

is the crepes are very thin
. . . so thin they are translu-
cent . . . and quite delicate
in texture and flavor .. .
making them ideal for a
wide variety of main-course
and dessert fillings . . . Cre-
pes are served for lunch,
dinner, late night desserts
and weekend brunch.
Recent visit was an ele-
gant taste experience .. .
Chicken Elegante (richly
flavored creamed chicken in
crepes, topped with Parme-
san cheese) . . . Spinach
Souffle (delicate within a
crepe and sprinkled with
Parmesan cheese) and
Fresh Strawberry Crepe
(served with brown sugar
and either fresh whipped
cream or sour cream,
enveloped in a light golden
crepe).
The Twelve Oaks Magic
Pan is open seven days a
week.
FOR THE FIRST time
since its founding, almost
two years ago, Attic Theater
downtown will have a lease
. . . Its scheduled move
across the street from their
Trapper's Alley home on
Monroe to E. Lafayette is
Nov. 1 . . Producing body is
called Roadside Attrac-
tions, Inc., in existence
since 1974 . . . a non-profit,
tax exempt corporation
made up of artists who live
in the Detroit area.
Its new show is "In The
Boom Boom Room," a con-
troversial drama about a
go-go dancer.
STARR, featuring vocals
of Anita Greene, is at Top of
the Pontch in Hotel
Pontchartrain.
The four-piece group
plays top 40 tunes and yes-
terday's classics for dining
and dancing.
CHET BOGAN is a very
fine dentist in Grosse Pointe
Woods, but a number of
people remember his play-
ing at the Bar Mitzva or
wedding of their children.
The last few years, how-
ever, Chet has been concen-
trating on traditional Dixie-
land music, researching and
arranging many oldies of
the 20's and 30's . . . Along
with songstress Dixiebelle,
Chet and his Wolverines are
performing every 'Tuesday
evening at Club Lido on The
Lake, E. Jefferson, north of
Nine Mile Rd.
Many say Chet's group is
without equal as far as New
Orleans Traditional Jazz
and Roaring 20's music is
concerned.
Latest LP album by Chet
and The Wolverines has re-
cently been released . . . and
is a good one.
FOR YEARS, people al-
ways knew that Edjo's Gas-
light on Woodward, just
north of Seven Mile, had
good food . . . but it was usu-
ally noted only for its exotic
dancers.
Today, Edjo's still has the
dancing girls . . . for a while
yet . . . and the food is even
better.
A recent visit there for
lunch revealed this fact
with one of the finest Filet of
