A number of key conference sessions, in- cluding a noon presenta- tion by former Detroiter and UJA National Chairman Irwin S. Field, will stress "Project Re- newal," a major program of social rejuvenation in Israel for 300,000 immig- rants in distressed urban neighborhoods. Total cost of the project has been estimated at $1.2 billion, with American Jew- ry's share set at $400 mil-, lion. The 1979 campaign launches the first phase of the program, covering 30 of the 160 target neighbor- hoods. The conference program will include -a colloquy on current affairs in Israel and the Middle East . conducted by Uri Ra'anan, professor of international politics at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and Dr. John D.
