At the same time, prep- arations are made for the International Harp Contest for the year 1979. In these contests the best harpists of the world take part. The jury consists of the greatest composers and musicians. It will be the seventh contest of this kind. • The founder of the zim- ria was the late Ahron Zvi Propes, who had studied in the Conservatorium in Prague. Already in Riga, before coming to Eretz Yisrael before the Second World War, he was dreaming about organiz- ing international festi- vals of Jewish choirs of all over the world in Eretz Yisrael. In 1935, he came to Eretz Yisrael and im- mediately organized a committee headed by the poet, Dr. Yacov Cohen. But only after -the estab- lishment of the state of Is- rael did he succeed in or- ganizing the first Zimria. Afterwards he organized the International Music Festivals in Israel.
