Carter Defends
PLO's Right
to Speak in U.S.

ALIQUIPPA, Pa. —
President Carter said
Saturday that the Palestine
Liberation Organization,
like the Ku Klux Klan and
the Nazis, is "obnoxious to
some of us" but deserves
freedom of speech in the
United States.
The President said many
organizations distasteful to
many Americans still have
the right to free speech in
America so long as they
don't pose a threat to the na-
tion's security.
