Silverman is fly- ing high — in both senses of the word, as he fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a pilot. Silverman, who has long been active in the general and Jewish communities, particularly in efforts on behalf of the Allied Jewish Campaign, earned his pilot's license last month against great odds. A certified public ac- countant, Silverman traces his interest in flying and outer space to childhood when he read constantly about flying and built model planes. He took his first plane flight, as a passenger, in 1957 and was frightened at the experience. He de- cided that he would like to learn to fly to over- come that fear. Another flight 10 years later con- vinced him that by taking flying lessons he would overcome his fear. Silverman attended ground school in 1971, but when his wife became ill he suspended his training. He Don't interfere in an argument between lovers — or kin. On Sale Sept. 241h. Thru Oct. 141h.
